Welcome to Dorcas Women
of Destiny Ministry, a community support ministry of Jesus Celebration Center,
located in Kampala, Uganda.
Dorcas Women of Destiny
started in 2005 with two sewing machines and the vision of a church to help
single mothers and young women who had dropped out of school due to lack of
funding. In the local community, many single women and mothers are gifted but
cannot afford school-based training or obtain equipment learn a vocation. Many
live at or below the poverty level. The mission of Dorcas Women of Destiny is
to identify candidates who will most benefit from vocational training and
supply them with housing, food, vocational and business classes and new
business equipment as becomes available, all free of charge. We currently have
23 women in training and 5 graduates of the program. More are applying for the
next training sessions. It is our vision for those who have graduated who would like to be independent,
that they each be given a machine to start their own business and consequently
have better prospects for the future. For those who wish to remain connected to
the DWD Training Center, we plan to organize a company which can make clothes,
such as uniforms for sale. Pastor Vianney Muhwezi is the Senior of Jesus Celebration Center located in the
Suburbs of Kampala City in Uganda and is married to Lucy, blessed with four
children; two boys and two girls.
Acts 9:36-43 (NKJV) Dorcas Restored to Life 36At Joppa there was a certain disciple named Tabitha, which is translated
Dorcas. This woman was full of good works and charitable deeds which she did. 37 But it happened in those
days that she became sick and died. When they had washed her, they laid her in
an upper room. 38 And
since Lydda was near Joppa, and the disciples had heard that Peter was there,
they sent two men to him, imploring him not to delay in coming to them. 39 Then Peter arose and went
with them. When he had come, they brought him to the upper room. And all the
widows stood by him weeping, showing the tunics and garments which Dorcas had
made while she was with them. 40But Peter put them all out, and knelt down and prayed. And turning to the body
he said, “Tabitha, arise.” And she opened her eyes, and when she saw Peter she
sat up. 41 Then he gave
her his hand and lifted her up; and when he had called the saints and widows,
he presented her alive. 42And it became known throughout all Joppa, and many believed on the Lord. 43 So it was that he stayed
many days in Joppa with Simon, a tanner.
